What is the ratings system, and why?
On one of our visits to The Golden Tiki, inspiration hit us. We realized we needed a way of explaining why Golden Tiki seemed so…amazing

Outdoor Theme Quality – “Curb Appeal”
Does the outside look like a tiki bar? Does it stand out? Is there anything interesting going on? See: Ven-Tiki, Trader Vic’s Emeryville
Indoor Theme Quality – “Are we amazed”
Does the bar go above and beyond? Lights? How much bamboo is too much bamboo? See: Pagan Idol, Golden Tiki
Drink Potency
Are the drinks watered down? Does the alcohol content seem worthwhile
Drink Quality
Overall how great do the drinks taste? Are they distinct?
Drink Presentation
Do the drinks come in different glasses? Fruit added on top? etc.
Value
Relative measure of the worth of the drinks. We admit this is pretty subjective
Happy Hour
Having one of any type can really help a bar’s overall rating
Food
Similar to Happy Hour. Not a requirement, but if a bar does have food it deserves a call out
Ambiance – “Do we need to come back”
How good the bar feels. Another subjective rating.
Flair
How well does the bar execute the theming
Extras
Is there anything unique that stands out? Do they go above and beyond?
Bathroom
Does the bar theming extend to the bathroom? See: Golden Tiki, Frankie’s Tiki Room
